Self-floating dredging hoses are similar to soft-wall mining hoses with an additional integral foam shell that enables them to float independently. This soft-wall hose consists of an inner layer of mud-resistant abrasion-resistant rubber, a soft reinforcement layer that accommodates internal pressure, and an outer layer that protects against UV rays, ozone, and external abrasion. This gives it more flexibility and prevents kinking in bends or close to the dredger.
High density closed cell foam provides buoyancy without additional floats and also prevents water absorption. Self-floating hoses are only suitable for discharge tasks.
